ART PARTNER AGENCY ASK YOUNG ARTISTS TO PARTAKE IN CREATECOP29.

By Ella O Gorman.

Calling young creatives! You only have one week left to be included in this exciting environmental initiative.

Now in its fifth year, CreateCOP is an open call issued by the eminent creative agency, Art Partner, aimed to encourage creatives to submit work across a broad variety of artistic mediums – ranging from fashion design and performance art to photography.

Earth partner, the environmental and sustainability-driven division of the agency has been clear is its commitment to leveraging the agency’s “core skills of networking and creative communication on behalf of projects and organizations dedicated to climate action and the transition to the circular economy,” and has most recently expressed this ethical stance through their crucial CreateCOP29 initiative.

This ongoing global contest is intended to generate conversations and instigate action for climate justice. It also aims to draw attention to the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) which will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 11 to 22 November 2024.

This year the brief is simple –  artists of all nationalities, races, genders, and faiths, aged 14 to 30, are invited to submit work in any artistic medium that comments on the climate emergency in a meaningful manner, one that galvanizes change. Eight lucky finalists and twenty honorable mentions will be selected by an impressive panel of judges composed of experts such as Ferdinando Verderi, Anja Rubik, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Mario Testino and his brother – founder of Art Partner, Giovanni Testino.

Participants are welcome to hone their focus on relevant themes that they personally find are the most pressing or explore salient issues suggested by Art Partner such as biodiversity, climate justice, corporate greenwashing, material innovation, wildlife conservation, plastic waste and pollution, grassroots activism, intersectional environmentalism, regeneration, the physical and mental impacts of the climate crisis, and nature-based wisdom.

And if the gratification of contributing to a worthwhile cause isn’t enough, Art Partner are offering cash prizes of $10K, $5K and $2K to eight successful finalists, in addition to having their work featured on artpartner.com and the agency’s social media platforms. Winners and honorable mentions will also be considered in the curation of the #CreateCOP, a physical traveling exhibition which has been hosted at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Fotografiska Shanghai during Shanghai Climate Week, and Photo London 2024.

Applications can be submitted until the 31st of October 2024 on createcophub.com Cover image Aakash Malik. Inside portraits: left Creative director, Ferdinando Verderi and right sustainable fashion activist, Marina Testino. All imagery courtesy of Art Partner.
