Balenciaga resurrects the House’s first fragrance, Le Dix, and expands it into a spectrum of ten bold fragrances.
On September 10, Balenciaga introduced a line of ten fragrances. At the center is Le Dix, first created in 1947 by Cristóbal Balenciaga and long thought lost. After years of archival research, the rediscovered perfume became both anchor and catalyst for a collection that fuses heritage craft with contemporary innovation.
The revival of Le Dix is a story in itself. For 15 years, archivists searched through records, sketches, and old advertisements before uncovering a surviving bottle. Perfumers then reconstructed its iris-centered profile, combining precious florals with modern aldehydes to forge a balance between reverence and reinvention. Its name, meaning “The 10,” nods to the original couture salon at 10 Avenue George V—a Parisian address still central to the House’s identity.
Alongside this historic scent come nine new creations, each drawing on Balenciaga’s codes and contradictions. Arranged as a gradient—from the luminous clarity of the lightest to the opaque depth of the darkest—the collection mirrors the way time intensifies.

No Comment, at the lightest end of the spectrum, embodies Cristóbal Balenciaga’s famously private nature with a woody note–fresh like Spanish cypress oil. Getaria evokes his Spanish coastal hometown with salty citrus and crystallized seaweed. 100% turns the classic rose into a metallic-floral crescendo, while Muscara blends ambrette seed and iris with a varnished edge. At the darkest end of the lineup is Incense Perfumum, a smoky composition of incense oils and amber.
The House previously approached fragrance as more of a performance than as a product—most memorably in experiential runway shows that evoked scents of antiseptic, petrol, or blood. This new line favors wearability.
The bottles themselves extend the storytelling. Each bottle is a scanned replica of the sculptural glass vessel from 1947, with a rounded glass stopper and a hand-tied ribbon at the neck. The bottles extend the storytelling. They are refillable, deliberately weighty, and meant to feel like art pieces rather than simple packaging.
The line is offered in several formats: 100ml bottles, a 10 x 10ml Le Dix set, and a 10 x 2ml discovery pack designed like a cigarette box—inviting both collectors and newcomers.
The collection is available now at the Balenciaga Fragrance Store at 10 Avenue George V in Paris, as well as select Balenciaga stores in Europe, North America, and online. Distribution will expand gradually to the Middle East, Asia, and other global locations.
