Set to break into the burgeoning beauty market this Autumn, Celine is launching a luxury crimson-colored lipstick.
Introducing Celine Beauté– the French Maison’s first foray into the world of beauty and cosmetics, pioneered by Heidi Slimane- the brand’s creative, artistic and image director. Following the success of Celine’s sensational “Haute Parfumerie” scents in 2019, beauty enthusiasts first glimpsed the brand’s cosmetic ambitions at the unveiling of Celine’s AW24 “La Collection de L’Arc de Triomphe” film last March. Models flaunted freshly painted lips and left onlookers lusting over the soft, sheeny and silk-like formula teased in the visual.
Now the wait is almost over, with the impending launch of Celine’s inaugural makeup product, ‘Rouge Triomphe,’ a sexy, universally flattering and refillable red lipstick, set for mid-October.
‘Rouge Triomphe,’ is the debut shade in the ‘Le Rouge Celine’ lipstick collection and it already promises to be a worthwhile investment into your beauty regime. The product is pragmatic, with a richly pigmented stick designed for precise and effortless application. Yet, the exterior doesn’t shy away from Celine’s signature sophistication, boasting a gleaming gold exterior embossed with the Maison’s signature “Triomphe” emblem. The composition of the packaging also alludes to the influence that 18th Century French Classicism and Art Deco motifs have had on Slimane and he subsequently amalgamated this rich sense of heritage and purpose into the finished product.
‘The creation of Celine Beauté comes to enrich the cultural roots of the brand,’ says the Maison of the launch, and whilst retaining the refined elegance that has become synonymous with Celine, it serves to “promote a French idea of femininity and allure.” With this in mind, a visually arresting video campaign accompanies and supports the release. Starring the 16-year-old American actress Ever Anderson swaying to the sound of Grace Inspace’s “Sunshine Kid,” it offers aesthetic insight into the perennial glamour associated with French beauty staples, such as a bold, classic red lip.
The lipstick itself is also infused with a pleasant scent- a subtle melange of rose and rice powder which symbolizes a “regressive softness,” offering a nostalgic flashback to the 1970s and a “powdery and olfactory style” reminiscent of the brand’s fragrance line. By delivering comfort, hydration, radiance and longevity, it also meets the mounting demand for “clean beauty” standards, as it’s composed of an impressive 89 percent natural origin ingredients.
This is the start of the Maison’s aspirations within the beauty sector. ‘High-end luxury goods’ featuring pocket mirrors and accessories such as leather lipstick cases are also in production and serve to complement ‘Le Rouge Celine’ perfectly, designed by Slimane to enhance the ‘timeless feminine ritual,’ of lipstick application.
The launch of Celine Beauté and its uniquely formulated, luxurious line of lipsticks is bolstered by the prospect that each season will reveal new collections, which, according to the brand, will offer consumers the opportunity to shop from a selection of ‘lip balms, mascaras, eyeliners, loose powder, blush and nail polishes,’ which, with their high quality ingredients and decorative flair, are expected to flourish within the growing market of luxury beauty portfolios.
The additional 15 satin-finish shades that, when combined, complete the ‘Le Rouge Celine’ lipstick collection, will be released in January 2025.
