The luxury fashion house teamed up with the new customer-centric clothing brand to build a capsule collection of sustainable pieces

Chloé, the French luxury fashion house known for its soft materials and uniquely styled designs, is making strides in innovation, technology and sustainability by collaborating with Atelier Jolie on a capsule collection that celebrates femininity.

Angelina Jolie, popularly known for her roles as a filmmaker, actress and humanitarian, is the founder of Atelier Jolie. In her brand’s statement of purpose, Jolie explains that Atelier Jolie serves as “a place for creative people to collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers and artisans from around the world. A place to have fun. To create your own designs with freedom. To discover yourself.”

“From the moment I heard about Angelina’s vision for Atelier Jolie, I believed in it. It is a way to elevate others through the beauty of garment-making and her deep respect for the environment,” said Gabriela Hearst, the creative director of Chloé, in a statement. “It’s an honor for me that Chloé will be the first collaborator for Atelier Jolie, as both have high ideals for the betterment of our species. That is the reason why I love both Angelina and Chloé so deeply.”

The collection, co-designed by Hearst and Jolie, consists of an exclusive line of ready-to-wear pieces that were crafted to fit the lifestyle of the modern woman. According to Chloé, the collection aims to be “an exercise in modern femininity” which works to celebrate authentic connections between women.

The capsule collection, rumored to be filled with fluid silhouettes and tactile details, is the next step for both brands in their commitment to improving social and environmental sustainability with a more transparent sense of responsibility.

In October of 2021, Chloé became the first luxury fashion house to earn B-Corp certification. The certification comes from B Lab, a nonprofit network that works to transform the global economy for the benefit of all people, places and communities. Among those invested in the environmental advances to the fashion industry, this is considered to be the last step a brand must take in order to be considered truly sustainable. “By becoming B Corp certified, Chloé reinforces its commitment to taking accountability for its impact on people and the planet,” said Chloé in the statement.

“Very few luxury brands are a certified B Corp. It was important to me to work with Chloé, one of the first luxury brands to be a B Corp,” said Jolie in the statement.

The capsule collection is focused primarily on eveningwear, and takes inspiration from a timeless collection of clothing staples found in Jolie’s own closet. Many of the pieces in the collection are examples of successful collaboration, showcasing the work of local artisans and spotlighting female led businesses. Consumers can also expect quality craftsmanship combined with sustainable practices, as parts of the collection make use of deadstock and lower-impact materials. An impressive feat, this collection incorporates a higher percentage of low impact materials than ever seen before from either brands.

The newest collection from the fashion pioneers is gaining a lot of traction. With both Hearst and Jolie at the wheel, this collaboration has the potential to influence the way materials are utilized and environmental sustainability is developed in future fashion projects.
