The Paris hotel celebrates the sport’s second debut in the Olympic Games.

The eagerly awaited Summer Olympics return this year in Paris. Adding to the excitement, skateboarding will make its return to the events for its second time. In celebration of the newly added olympic discipline, the Hôtel de Crillon– a Rosewood Hotel– will host an exclusive collaboration with THE SKATEROOM, an organization dedicated to creating skateboard collections which foster a love of art, skate, and social change.

THE SKATEROOM partners with artists around the world to create skateboard art pieces with 10% of proceeds going to charities and nonprofits, and helping THE SKATEROOM and their partners support at-risk youth, develop education facilities and resource programs, and build new skateparks.

The collaboration was ideated by Sarah Andelaman, founder of Just an Idea, which curates and publishes collections of books by diverse creators with deep cultural resonance. Aline Asmar d’Amman, architect and founder of Culture in Architecture, curated the exhibition with pieces carefully selected by artists Cindy Sherman, Juergen Teller, Jeff Koons, and a limited-edition board by French artist Ines Longevial

“It is an honor to team up with our dear friend Sarah Andelman and the iconic Hôtel de Crillon to celebrate art, skate and social change this summer,” says Charles-Antoine Bodson, founder of THE SKATEROOM. “We are thrilled to bring artworks by phenomenal artists inside the Palace’s spectacular rooms.”

The hotel has an illustrious history, as the building was made at the request of Louis XV to become the residence of Count de Crillon and his family. It wasn’t until 1909 that the palace was turned into a hotel.

“We are proud to celebrate this new discipline in a fun and artistic way at the iconic Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel. The Olympics means unity. The coming together of a city, of the world, what better way to honor this than with skateboarding? Skateboarding is intrinsically linked with creativity, innovation, experimentation, and community. Diverse at its core. Alive in the gathering of like-minded individuals, united in a passion. This summer, with THE SKATEROOM, Rosewood and Hôtel de Crillon will play host to the magic of skateboarding, art, enjoyment and community, to all who visit” says Joanna Gunn, Chief Brand Officer of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

The Rosewood X THE SKATEROOM exhibition will be on display from June 18th through September 14th in the lobby and throughout the historic Hôtel de Crillon in celebration of the sport’s return to the Olympic Games.
