The What Now? Program aims to supports students and graduates to realize their creative vision, increase their chances of being employed and bolster their design portfolios.
Professionals from creative companies including LVMH Moët Hennessy, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Gabriela Hearst and Marlborough Art Gallery will share advice to young creatives asking the question “Where do I go from here?”
Drop-in workshop Stations at The Standard, East Village will take place from 10:00-18:00 and a panel talk dealing with ‘post-college panic’, led by industry professionals offering advice, will commence at 19:30.
According to the Foundation, the What Now? Event in London 2023, attracted more than 800 graduates of which 400 received 1-to-1 advice. Now, the London-based foundation is “delighted” to launch this hugely successful event to New York City and “help the next generation of artists and designers”, according to Trino Verkade, director of Sarabande.
Verkade added that in a quickly changing creative landscape, “it is impossible for a graduate to know where they will find fulfillment, personally and creatively” and the event “gives straightforward, practical advice to those recent graduates who are eager to take their next step”.
Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director Watches and Jewellery, Louis Vuitton, said “I know what I’m looking for in a graduate, and all the brands taking part in What Now? also know what they want.”
Amfitheatrof, also President of The American Friends of Sarabande, adds that the “objective for this event is to advise and educate students on how to put their best foot forward in their career trajectory” and aims to show graduates “not just what’s possible for them, but how to thrive.”
The What Now? Event will take place on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024 at The Standard, East Village, 25 Cooper Square, New York, NY 10003.
