Naomi Glasses Continues Collaboration with Ralph Lauren

The seventh-generation Navajo artist continues the collaboration and releases a second drop with the brand.

Ralph Lauren’s inaugural Artist in Residence program continues with a second drop in collaboration with Navajo textile artist and weaver, Naomi Glasses. The Artist in Residence program was first announced in 2022, with the hope of amplifying the voices of diverse communities across America. Ralph Lauren focuses its designs on the inspiration of America, its history and diverse cultures. In an effort to reexamine what and who is included in the depiction of American culture, it is only fitting that the brand chose to work with Naomi Glasses. As the first collaboration with the seventh generation artist was released in December of 2023, this second installation’s drop on March 21, 2024 was eagerly anticipated.

The second drop of the collaboration is number two of the three planned releases in 2024, meant to celebrate the traditions of the Navajo. While the last collection featured more Earthy tones, this drop, aptly named Color in Motion, bursts with vibrant blues, yellows, oranges, and reds. The collection is inspired by Glasses’ passion for skateboarding, including 24 men’s, women’s and unisex apparel and accessories designs. Glasses can be seen riding her skateboard with her friends throughout the campaign, outfitted in the apparel and dripping with her unique selection of handcrafted silver and turquoise jewelry from seven Navajo and Hopi artisan families, available for purchase online and in select flagship doors. Similar to the first campaign, this capsule is shot by Ryan RedCorn (Osage) and Darren Sells (Navajo) and accompanied by a short film series directed by award-winning Navajo filmmaker Shaandiin Tome.

Glasses picked up skateboarding at just five years old as a means to escape bullies who made fun of her cleft palate. The skatepark inspires this collection as the place where Glasses found love and healing. As a child, Glasses was able to receive bilateral cleft palate repair with the support of Phoenix Children’s Foundation. As part of the collaboration with Ralph Lauren, a percentage of the purchase price from sales of the second drop will be donated to the organization’s Parent and Family Assistance Funds for Native American Families and the Center for Cleft and Craniofacial Care.

Items from collaboration with Glasses are available online, in the Ralph Lauren App, Tmall, and in select stores across the globe. The third installment is to be released in the coming months.
