SIX REASONS TO GET MISSION’S NEW HUMAN & NATURE ISSUE

Mission Magazine

What does it mean to live in harmony with nature? Find out in our new issue.

Mission’s Spring/Summer 2026 issue, Human + Nature Issue, guest edited by explorer and environmentalist David de Rothschild, explores that question across more than 350 pages of fashion, culture, art, activism and storytelling.

Bringing together globally renowned artists, environmental pioneers and emerging young voices, the issue celebrates the people reimagining our relationship with the natural world and each other.

Here are six reasons to dive in.

1.    DAVID DE ROTHSCHILD TAKES THE HELM

For this special issue, Mission welcomes explorer, environmentalist and entrepreneur David de Rothschild as Guest Editor.

From sailing across the Pacific aboard Plastiki to championing environmental innovation around the world, David has spent his career helping people reconnect with nature. His perspective shapes the issue throughout, inviting readers to consider how we can move from the noise of modern life towards a deeper connection with the living systems that sustain us.

2.    ES DEVLIN ON THE ART OF ATTENTION

Artist and designer Es Devlin is one of the most influential creative minds of our time.

Known for creating transformative experiences for everyone from Beyoncé and Adele to the London Olympics and major public installations around the world, Devlin reflects on the power of gathering, attention and collective imagination. Her work reminds us that art can help us reconnect with one another and with the world around us.

3.    BRUCE THE BEAR STEALS THE SHOW

The heart of the issue belongs to Bruce the Bear and his companion Noah Bates.

Photographed by Willow Williams and styled by Jordan Dean Schneider, our cover story, In Harmony, imagines a world where humans and nature move together with trust, curiosity and care.

Set across beaches, fields and city streets, the story captures the spirit of the issue and serves as a reminder that nature is not something separate from us. It is part of who we are.

4.    SARAH TENG REVEALS THE HIDDEN WORLD BENEATH THE SURFACE

Photographer and underwater explorer Sarah Teng takes readers into some of the planet’s most extraordinary environments.

From swimming alongside humpback whales in French Polynesia to documenting the annual sardine run off the coast of South Africa, her work captures rare moments that most people will never witness firsthand.

Her images remind us that protecting nature begins with understanding and appreciating its beauty.

5.    EXTRAORDINARY VOICES REIMAGINING THE FUTURE

This issue features a remarkable collection of artists, thinkers and changemakers.

Artist and filmmaker Sir John Akomfrah explores storytelling and memory. Explorer Bertrand Piccard discusses the future of clean aviation. Designer Amy Powney shares her commitment to responsible fashion through her label AKYN. Alongside them are activists, scientists and innovators helping shape a more sustainable future.

Together, they offer a vision of hope grounded in action.

6.    THE NEXT GENERATION TAKES THE MIC

Continuing Mission’s collaboration with founders Nile Rodgers and Nancy Hunt of We Are Family Foundation, this issue spotlights inspiring young leaders from around the world.

Working across climate justice, education, creativity and community building, these emerging voices demonstrate that meaningful change is already underway. Their stories are a reminder that the future is not something we inherit. It is something we create.
